C++ Pro Builder — VS Code Extension
- Published (VSIX release)
Overview
A VS Code extension that compiles single C and C++ files on Windows with no CMake and no configuration. It keeps executables out of the source tree by mirroring the source layout inside a dedicated build folder, and resolves the two failures that make single-file compilation awkward: cluttered directories and name collisions.
Key features
- Zero setup: no CMake, no build file, one keystroke (Ctrl+Alt+N)
- Build output mirrors the source tree — src/data/parser.cpp becomes build/cpp/data/parser.exe
- No collision between test.c and test.cpp in the same folder: C and C++ get separate build roots
- Handles file names containing spaces, which the naive compile command does not
- PowerShell-based compilation logic for reliable cross-folder builds
